The Roman Catholic, Bishop, Carmel Zammit, has thanked God for the many years of service Queen Elizabeth II gave to her country.

A requiem mass for the Queen took place at the Cathedral of St Mary The Crowned at midday, attended by all the clergy, and attended by dignitaries from the community.

GBC Television and Radio Gibraltar carried the service live.

The Governor Sir David Steel, Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and his wife Justine, laid wreaths before the altar.

Sir David and Mr Picardo, together with Mayor Christian Santos, also delivered the readings during the ceremony.

During his sermon, Bishop Zammit read out a message from Pope Francis to the Royal Family following the death of the Queen.
